Summary of Legislation — Week Ending September 12, 2025

NEW YORK: Introduced AB 9053 which allows the Department of Taxation and Finance to share address information from the most recent tax return with the Office of the State Comptroller for purposes of returning unclaimed property.

OHIO: Introduced SB 243 which would require the registrar or deputy registrar of motor vehicles to ask each person conducting a transaction in person at the bureau of motor vehicles if the person would like the registrar or deputy registrar to check for unclaimed property and to assist the person with the filing of a claim if desired.
